How it Works
The Program for Academic Resilience (PAR) is designed to be easy to use. Accessing and using your course materials is simple. Meeting with your coach or a tutor happens when and where you need it. Of course, this doesn’t mean that your actual courses will be simple. You should expect to be challenged and to demonstrate your knowledge and competence just like you would in any other academic course. You can count on us to support your progress fully throughout the entire experience.
How to Get Started
To kick things off, you’ll have a few things to do. Don’t be intimidated! We’ll provide you with the assistance and resources you need to complete them.
- Coaching logistics and welcome call
- Diagnostic tests
You will have a coaching welcome call which will introduce you to your coach and walk you through the expectations for your future sessions. These sessions review where you are in your academic journey and assist you in developing a plan to tackle any barriers to your success, focusing on developing new skills and personal growth.
Next, you’ll take your Math and English diagnostic tests, which will personalize your educational path for the program. This will save you time since you won’t have to repeat what you already know.
Before your PACA group sessions each week, you will also complete prework modules that include various engaging activities and reflections that prepare you for the session. Completing your prework is essential and will help you to participate in and learn from the live sessions.
Your orientation is a short, 15-minute overview that will introduce you to how the program works and what is expected of you.
The Program for Academic and Career Advancement (PACA) develops vital skills for academic success that translate to personal and career achievement. You will examine how your behaviors and mindsets affect your ability to attain your goals. Each week, you will complete prework, then attend online live sessions with your peers via Zoom. All live sessions are required, and you must be on webcam. By using the skills and strategies from your live sessions, you will create a plan of action to help you move forward on your student and professional journey with confidence and persistence.
